Happiness Basics - 2 - Choice

Right now, in this moment, you have a choice.  Even if you don't choose, you are choosing.  Got it?!

The tree outside grows where the seed falls, it cannot move, it cannot relocate, it can only accept sun and water from the universe and grow upwards.   Human beings, on the other hand, can move, can relocate, can accept or block gifts from the universe and either expand or contract our inner energies.  The big difference between you and that beautiful tree is that you have a choice and it does not. The tree is given one path - upwards.  You are given the choice for the path, to go in any direction or not to go.  And whether you consciously or unconsciously make that choice, that choice is ALWAYS made in this moment. 

So bring choice closer to yourself.  Ask yourself, am I consciously choosing happiness in this moment?  Or am I floating in a sea of unconsciousness, letting the ocean of past patterns, conditioning, habits, beliefs and programming push me backward and forward on the sea of life?  If I am unconscious, if I don't care, if I am too tired or too lazy to choose for myself, the sea of life will choose for me.  So sometimes I will be happy, but mostly I will be neutral or unhappy. Neutral is when people ask if you are happy and you say I'm okay.  But in reality, in spiritual terms, when you say I'm okay you are not happy.  In this moment you can only be happy or not happy.  

Choice, conscious or unconscious, is affected by Law of Attraction, where like attracts like.  Your mind works just like Google Search, because when you think about something, your mind searches its memories for all similar things, making a huge search list, just like Google.  So when you think happy, you get a list of of happy things.  When you think negative, you get a list of negative things.  And if you think about neutral things, just getting by or feeling just okay, guess what your list will be?  Repeated attention of that list will attract more of the same, until it becomes manifest in your reality.  

So to fully utilize and take advantage of the Law of Attraction, you have to change your current state of being.  If you are happy now, you will attract happier events and circumstances. And the most basic way to do that is conscious choice and practice.  Choose and practice being happy NOW.  Not the future when I finish this project or when I get that.  Not looking at the past and the old days which seemed better to me.  Just right NOW!  Because Right NOW changes your energy now, changes your body and mind's biochemistry now, and gives you the ability to attract more of the same. 

Conscious choice leads to mastery, mastery of yourself, of your ability to create your life, your happy life!
To understand the following: I am this (my current truth).  I clearly know what I want (goal or intention). I am willing to change (acceptance).  I can be that (100% possibility).  I choose now (turning point).  I am that (realization). Thank you, universe and God, for allowing me to be so successful at that (manifestation and gratitude).

So do you choose to be happy right now?  Do you consciously choose?  If yes, say it out loud, say I choose to be happy.  Say I choose to be happy right now!  For no reason at all, I choose to be happy right now!!!   

Then become aware of your inner state.  After saying these statements three or four times, how do you feel?  Any conflicting thoughts?  What is happening to your breathing?  Is what you just said 100% true?

Practice is key here.  Repeat your conscious choice every morning, every night and several times during the day.  Just like you when were taught to multiply numbers in school, now make the conscious choice to teach your subconscious to be happy for no reason at all right Now.  Unconditionally Happy.  Choose unconditional happiness and watch the miracle of life blossom.  Your happy life!

Happiness Basics Part I

Basics are so simple that we may take them for granted and forget to do them.  But mastering the basics are key steps towards our own self truth and it worthwhile to periodically review them to see how our daily life practice of happiness is developing.

The most common happiness basic is breathing!  Yes, breathing.  Besides giving you life, breathing reveals your true nature, your emotions, your state of being.  Did you know that when you are angry your breath is short, when you are fearful your breath is held, when you are sad your breath is heavy on the exhale, and when you are happy your breathing is effortless and smooth?  To a master, observing a person's breathing tells more truth than any words that person might speak.

You can test your own breathing truth by imagining different emotional memories.  Watch what happens to your breath when you think of stressful things like a work deadline, mistakes in the past, or being yelled at. And watch what happens when you think of things you love, like sunsets, smiling babies, being hugged, or being with someone you truly love.

Your breath changes when your emotions change.  That's obvious.  But your emotions change when your breath changes. Your body and brain go through biochemical changes when emotions are strongly felt.  Looping patterns of negativity are hard to break because as you think negative thoughts or feel negative emotions, your brain produces chemicals that cause stress and further negative emotions!   In order to break this loop and move towards constant happiness, you must be able to turn quickly from negative to positive and eventually to remain positively centered no matter what happens in the outside world.  How fast you turn becomes a measure to see how fast you are progressing towards inner happiness.  The faster you turn negative emotions into positive ones, the faster you are becoming self realized.

Mastery of conscious breathing will change your emotional states and is a powerful technique to practice.  If you are in a fearful or angry state, make a conscious effort to change your breath!  Drop your current negative thoughts by focusing on your breath and practicing what happy breathing feels like.  Think about things you love and how things you love always make you breathe better.  Slow down your breath and make it even and effortless. Let your mind concentrate on breathing mechanics while you allow yourself to relax and feel good inside.  As your breath changes your brain chemicals change and then your emotional state changes, making it so much easier to be happy in this moment.  No matter what you are doing, even if you are in the middle of a business deal or dealing with a personal crisis, taking a few moments to change your breath will change your negative emotional state into a happier one and give you a much clearer perspective on the current situation.  And like everything else in life, the more you practice the better you become!

Practice happy breathing all the time, it's one of the best happiness basics you can do for yourself.  There is no better feeling than to be loved and happy and conscious breathing always takes you there.  Just ask yourself this, how fast can I breathe happy?
